Stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre beim gemeinsamen Angebot von Rumänienhilfe und FKFI

In der Eintrittsdiele des Widums konnte man Román Kolindadallamok/Romanian Christmas Carols (1915) von Béla Bartok hören: 10 kurze Stücke der zweiten Serie (auf Naxos CD, mit Lajos Kertész, Piano)
“Bartok was fascinated by the ‘colinde’ (Romanian Christmas Carols), sung by groups of waits or carollers on Christmas Eve. He found them to be very different from their often highly sentimentalized Western counterparts. Some texts were a legacy of ‘ancient pagan times’.
When they were invited into houses, carollers would split themselves into two groups. They would alternate the verses antiphonally.
Bartok arranged 20 of the carols into two sets or series. He carefully selected and organized the pieces in terms of their tempo and tonality to create a pair of tightly organized medleys.”
