On Saturday May 25 eleven members of the Freundeskreis für Integration Inzing set off for a walking tour to the Lake at Mōsern.
The Seefeld Hiking Tips booklet said: “There are many lovely spots where you can recharge your batteries”, but we would be walking, not taking an electric car or e-bike!
It continued: “There are beautiful views of the Inntal Valley from the forest trails and there is plenty to do for families, sports enthusiasts or those in need of relaxation.” It sounded promising.
The roundabout route went from Inzing by train via Innsbruck and Seefeld , followed by a bus towards Mōsern. Sadly, the train was five minutes late at Seefeld, and so we missed the bus. Should we wait for a whole hour for the next bus?
No. With the clouds low and rain descending, we decided to change our plan. Besides, we learned that the Seestube at the Lake would be closed. So, what did we do?
We walked round the lake at Seefeld, read each of the Information Boards about nature and ecology, and met wandering ducks and friendly grey-black squirrels. The ducks followed us closely…..and some enjoyed a few snails.
As for us, a late lunch at a Seefeld Gasthaus introduced many of us to Tiroler Schlutzfkrapfen. What did we learn today? That the best-laid plans can often go wrong, and that – to compensate – it is better to make a virtue out of a necessity. Mōsern messed us up, but Seefeld saved us.
